David has keynoted TEDx on the railways of China, and has spoken at major trade shows, transport associations, to audiences in universities, and to technology and industry centres and hubs as well as professionals in/from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania, both in person and online.

David works independently in the rail industry and can think “outside of the box”. He has published vision plans for the Chinese railways, with most of the proposals progressively realised. These include overnight HSR sleepers to Hong Kong, optimising the China-Laos Railway, secure QR code measures for ticketing, and order at stations and onboard, amongst others.

Over a decade before China’s visa-free deals were realised, David already recognised the need for the railways to improve services for guests from abroad. His Everyday Rail English and Everyday Metro English campaigns have improved English across the network, and have been key components in improving English for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games, and Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games.
